Dr. Daniel A. Griffith is an Ashbel Smith professor of Geospatial Information Sciences at the U. of Texas at Dallas, affiliated professor in the College of Public Health at the U. of South Florida, and an adjunct professor in the Department of Resource Economics and Environmental Sociology at the U. of Alberta. Previously he was a faculty member at the U. of Miami (UM), Syracuse U. (SU), SUNY/Buffalo, and Ryerson Polytechnical U. in Toronto. While at SU he served as Chair of the Department of Geography, Director of the Interdisciplinary Program in Statistics, and Deputy Director of the New York State Program in Geographic Information and Analysis. He also was an adjunct professor with the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, a member of the SU Interdisciplinary Program in Statistics faculty, a visiting research affiliate for the USEPA Environmental Monitoring and Assessment Program, a visiting professor at the U. of Cambridge, Erasmus U./Rotterdam, the U. of Rome “La Sapienza,” and the U. of Jyväskylä (Finland), a superfund site remediation consultant for Syracuse Research Corporation, and a spatial statistics consultant for the Ministerio de Educación del Perú. He holds an undergraduate degree in Mathematics, and graduate degrees in Statistics and in Geography.
